Gen2 will be some day, i am playing now, so i don't hoard those candy, that are usefull now.
Tentacruel is not hard to beat, you can fight or prestige it with an electric pkm easily, but it might be a nasty surprise for someone who does not know it very good, recognizes a water pkm and attacks with a grass or dragonite.
Lapras' typing is water / ice, so flash cannon is not super effective. Spark is super effective into lapras, indeed.
Magnetons steel-typing indeed makes it resistant to lapras' ice attacks, but this is nothing real special, as steel is resistant to many types.
I don't see magneton superior to arcanine, who attacks normal into lapras and gets reduced ice-damage too, but is much stronger.
Magneton isn't superior to arcanine. That's why it's a vanity Pokemon ;)
But in all honesty what makes magneton useful isn't just vs lapras- it's a swiss army knife vs lapras, dragonite, gyarados, and vape - all very common gym defenders at high lvl. Arc only good vs lapras out of those, or exeggutor who's increasingly less common
Yeah I use him vs. Dragonite all the time. It's funny b/c with all the Gyarados/Dragonite/Vape around, the game often puts 3-4 Magneton in my recommended team
You do have to dodge pretty much every attack, but it's not that hard b/c all his moves are quick. He's also extremely potion efficient - a Super potion will usually take him back to full HP
On paper, Poison in general is better on defense than offense bc few weaknesses but not many advantages to exploit.
But in my experience ppl who played original games (like myself)tend to mentally overvalue type advantages in pogo and undervalue stab where stab bonus = type advantage bonus. Poison doesn't do extra dmg to many Mons, but it's literally only weak vs rhydon/golem out of all defenders you'll encounter. So you walk into almost any battle with built in type advantage. Great as a filler Pokemon when you might need to "finish off" 2 or 3 diff defenders - much more useful in practice than on paper
Tentacruel generally underrated as well IMO
Speaking of which, I forgot to mention!!!!!
Tentacruel with Jab/Sludge is the #1 POKEMON (!!) vs. Lapras with all Ice Moveset in prestige efficiency. (Ignoring unevolved Pokemon and Chansey, assuming dodging all charge only)
This is b/c all Lapras' attacks will be resisted, and Poison attacks will be doing full STAB dmg.
Vs. Lapras with Dragon Pulse charge he drops to 4th (using same criteria) behind Wiggly w/ Pound/Hyper, Lickitung w/ Lick/Hyper, and Onix with Rock Throw
Heh. It's kind of a long story how it evolved, but this name start back when I played WOW when it first came out.
Nug is referring to nuggets, which is a reference to....well, if you don't know then I won't be a bad influence
Juice, besides being delicious, is kind of like the essence of something. You squeeze an orange and the juice comes out and you're left with a glass of juice and an empty shell.
So nugjuice is what you would get if you squeezed out nuggets for their essence. Something near and dear to my heart ;)
I put a pic of my starmie up above.
Honestly, I have a few high iv omastars with best movesets but I just can't seem to justify putting dust into them. I can't think of a situation where it's better than vape...or really anything with wg/hp for that matter.
Every site that ranks it is heavily weighting the legacy anto-lapras moveset. Which is fine dvice if you have it but worthless at best if you don't
