All 3-bar moves now 2-bar in PvP. Why?

When viewing a Pokemon, it now shows Raid/Gym move power and Trainer Battle move power with all 3-bar moves becoming 2 bar for PvP. Does this mean longer charge times for those moves now?

The bars displayed for PvP moves are extremely misleading and you should never pay them any heed. I can't think of any other game feature to date that was so bad at providing useful information.

As for the actual question, Thunder Punch became more expensive to be in line with Ice and Fire Punch, other 3-bar moves didn't have changes to their energy costs. In addition to that, Thunderbolt and Flamethrower also cost more now to be in line with Ice Beam.

Thanks for clarifying. Not sure why I expected something intuitive in Pokemon Go's UI after all this time

The addition of the PvP information makes the entries look SO muddled. Awful presentation. I don't even think it's helpful or interesting since there's no dodging, durations are nebulous if you don't dig in to understand it a bit, and the bigger half of the equation (energy gain) isn't listed. So the numbers don't help a whole lot in terms of making decisions.

No, the bar system used for PvE information doesn't translate correctly to PvP by any metric. They probably wanted a graphically similar appearance between the two stats but honestly just having the energy number would have been better.
