Alakazam psycho cut spam only?!?!

I have a 2400+cp alakazam with psycut and shadow.
Im using only quick attack and dodging but still feels it takes too long to kill sometimes... And there are not really any obvious mons u would chose him as a counter.. Maybe poliwrath.
I doubt psycut+psychic changes a lot, because to do charge moves he cant dodge, taking hit and losing a looot of hp.. So any point in continue powering him up?

If you don't feel like you need to use him then no need to power him up, I have powered one up but I end up never using him. There's just better counters for pretty much everything I see. Especially for training where his high CP is almost a disadvantage when I'm trying to maximize prestige.

The problem with Alakazam is you need to dodge pretty much everything to make it useful. I find it boring and too slow to dodge quick moves, specially with the recent changes in combat system. I tried Gengar and felt the same as you. If you need a psychic type try Hypno. He has a huge defense a its damage isn't bad at all.

I have one with the same moveset which i just evolved 2250+ and never powered up (71.1% IVs). I feel good attacking with him, he just match perfectly with my style, spam 3~4 psycho cuts and dodge in safe. Now im looking for one with high IVs to try Psycho Cut/Psychic, who i will max out.

Evolved several of them thanks to a recent nest. Alakazam is a pure attacker and you need psycho cut no matter what. Hits fast and hard; it's even slightly higher DPS level than dragon breath on Dragonite. If you don't have psychic charge move, then psycho cut spam is the only option since it dishes out higher DPS than shadow or dazzling. But if you're super lucky to have psychic, Alakazam rips through anything. Always dodge the big charge moves though.
