Alakazam, powering or not ?

Hello, just evolve my alakazam but it has psyko cut and Dazzling Gleam any advices ?

The psycho chut itself makes your mon good, but he won't be the power house that he can be. If you can evolve another with ease you shoul wait.

Don't worry, you can just spam Psycho Cut, it is really, really good. If it has bad IVs do not power it up though, I would wait until you get an abra with 1 or 2 stats that are at 15 and then try for the better moveset, but until then spamming psycho cut is enough, if you dont see many abra you might as well power him up to be honest

He's just showing off lol. Statistically it's really hard to get this matched moveset. Out of 8 evolves i only managed to get 1. That's a lot of candies :(

It proves that he has the optimal moveset, so his opinion that Psychic charge moves are valuable beyond just spamming Psycho Cut is not groundless.

i.e. he can spam Psycho cut if he chooses and he deems that too weak. So Psycho Cut + not-Psychic isn't worth powering (in his eyes).

I would gladly trade my Zam for a Rhydon with Mudslap/Eq or SE.... I'm not the biggest fan of Zam and his low hp. My other Zam has Psycho and Shadodow Ball which I find as useless as Dazzling Gleam. Abras spawn way too much around here I need some Rhyhorn and Geodude spawns.

Psycho Cut is great for spam attacks. You can use him to beat 1 or 2 mons first and soften up a gym.

it's a 89Iv alakazam and I have another Abra with 89 IV but 1 candy left, so I ll wait I guess :)

Piggy backing on this, what to do with a Confusion/Shadow Ball set? Abra has been very slow coming. Most of the candy came from the 3 I have being my buddy.

Don't touch it keep it as a trophy lol. That is a awful move set for attack and Zam is a horrible defender unless you're putting him there as a trophy. Just keep grinding for another one I guess?

I just transferred mine to the professor...

I should be able to evolve another in a few more days when I do a mass evolve...

Not sure the exact amount, but I think not having Psychic makes Alakazam do about 15-20% less damage so it's a huge chunk...

I personally wouldn't power it up. With my limited mon space, I actually transferred my Confusion/Shadow Ball one with over 2000CP.

However, if you have a good link (no lag) and the ideal attacking movesets, you can knock out Snorlax faster than a similarly maxed DB/DC Dragonite:

Whether it's worth it to you depends on if you have an army of Dragonites at your disposal since Psychic typing isn't very useful currently...
