Alakazam Moveset Question

Am I the only one who is confused by his moveset rankings on here? There are almost exclusively legacy movesets, and none of them include Future Sight, which is 120 power as opposed to Psychic's 100. Is this just because the website hasnt been updated yet? Or is Future Sight secretly a garbage move? Lol

Follow up question, what do you guys think is his best moveset in your opinion? Is it more useful to have a hard hitting but slow confusion as his first attack? Or the faster hitting but less powerful Psycho Cut? Is there a significant damage difference in those 2?

His page has not ben updated.

His best move for attacking would be Pc/FS in my opinion. The damage difference between that and C/Fs is minimal and it is far easier to dodge with Pc. Taking into account the dodge, Pc may even be more dps that C - dependant on how many hits you can get in between dodges.

Ah ok thank you. I just evolved a Pc/FS one and was excited because I thought it was the best moveset, but then worried because I didnt see it on the rankings at all... Also not sure why the formatting is off on responses?

You have an awesome mon...I would gladly swap one of my C/Fs (I have 2), or Pc/P (2 of them also) for that.

Even with my Alakazarmy I am still trying for Pc/Fs and Pc/FB

It must have not have been updated yet. Confusion/Futuresight is the best moveset on offense and defense. On offense it makes dodging a little harder but provides superior DPS, and on defense it's vastly superior since speed doesn't matter. Futuresight is a tier above Shadow Ball, Dazzling Gleam, and Focus Blast which are roughly the same. On defense they are a lot closer, but Confusion is the most important thing. If I were going to put Alakazam on defense (there are many better defenders), it would have to have Confusion.

On offense, if you are dodging everything including quick attacks, Psycho Cut is the only viable option because Confusion is too slow for this strategy. Most people play by dodging only special attacks though, where Confusion is slightly better (4%-6%). Gamepress also bases its rankings under the assumption the player is only dodging specials (though sometimes they will list a separate rankings list for dodging everything in the form of a button on the pokemon's page).

What is the actual dps difference between confusion and psycho cut? Like getting down to a nitty-gritty pure calculation what difference do the two have? Or do you know where I can find that information?

Around 3% if you dodge nothing...and with dodging you can get enough hits from Pc in to make up for the 'non dodge on paper dps/eps'.

Pc/Fs is far superior as an attacker.
You don't want to use Alakazam as a defender. It stamina is too low.

Right, all depends on the playstyle. If you're dodging everything, Psycho Cut wins. If you're dodging nothing except specials, Confusion wins. Dodging everything is more potion efficient but slower and requires excellent dodging and active dodging. Dodging specials only is much less potion efficient but faster battle times and doesn't require nearly as much attention. All player preference, and each move is better depending on it.

From my experience, Confusion is too risky, and 1 missed dodge on a charge and it is all over.
I play with both almost daily, and C/Fs only gets used as first sacrifice attacker into Blissey, with Pc used later to ensure I can dodge when charge attacks start coming.

I use Qmike's updated spreadsheets from Reddit, just make sure you find the ones that have updated moves. No analysis is 100% accurate especially when it comes to offense because a player's choice to dodge and it's effect on energy gained (or loss) from not only less attacks but energy that is supposed to be gained from taking damage is hard to calculate. Confusion and Psycho Cut are close on offense, pure numbers Confusion wins out but if you like dodging quick attacks Psycho Cut is going to serve you a lot better.

I made my own spreadsheets, so I could be sure of every entry on the page, and so I can compare 100 energy gain/use/time (I see this as a flaw in his spreadsheet that he compares rotations of varying energy requirements)...then I used mons in a gym battle to test paper theory.
Sure spreadsheets are a good indicator, but nothing compares to actual experience.

Even though Confusion seems to have better DPS I don't get it, when you look at the stats
Confusion - 1.6 sec, 15 damage, 10 energy generated
2x Psycho Cut - 1.2 sec, 20 damage, 26 energy generated
Looks like you can get more energy, more damage and still slide in a dodge with PC

Confusion is 20 damage, 1.6 secs, 15 energy generated. Psycho Cut is 5 damage, .6 secs, 8 energy generated. Psycho Cut does have higher EPS, thanks for the correction.
