Alakazam 86.7% Best Moveset

Guys, my best IVs Alakazam is 14atk/12def/13hp 86.7% (hatched). I tried for a long time catch or hatch other with better IVs but no sucess. Its a bad choice spend dust and candies in a 86.7% IVs one? got the best moveset Psycho Cut/Psychic. Should i wait for better IVs? or dont worth powering a Alakazam?.

Just go for it because it is difficult to get the best moveset. Even 100% Alakazam will only see less than 2% difference from yours.

IVs don't mean anything - unless you're a virgin who spends too long studying those kind of stats.

Just enjoy the game.

Some of us have a strange understanding of "enjoy" the game. Wasting stardust on a low-iv-pkm which will always be 15-20% CP below optimum and stand on the bottom platform in gym to be kicked out first does not provide enjoyment to me.

This guy's 87% Alakazam will be only about 2% below max possible CP, and even if its IV's were 50%, it would only be about 7% below max possible CP.

Indeed. Thanx for clarification.

My answer was not to original question but to a piece of advice to ignore IV and enjoy the game. This implies to accept even a 0%IV-PKM that is quite sub-optimal:

CP-wise 15% worse than best
"Damage dealt until it faints"-wise 22% worse than the best.

These numbers are calculated for a virtual 190/190/190-pkm, bigger for a smaller pkm, smaller for a bigger pkm.

completely ignore the IV is not wise, but this obscession with perfect IV is stupid. The difference between a perfect IV and a 80% IV is minimal, and if the 80% IV pokemon have a better moveset he will be stronger than the perfect IV one.

I have a perfect Alakazam with Confusion/Dazzling Gleam and two Alakazam also 86.7% with Confusion/Psychic.

None of them are ideal for battle but I've given up on Psycho Cut and instead invest in my perfect one as a trophy and gyms.

If I had yours I'd power it up for sure until Level 30 at least.

Just depends on the type of person you are...I think TrainerTips Nick just hatched a 100% Abra...after saying in his video that he was going to evolve the one he had, then found another that day which had better IVs, then hatched a perfect one so eventually, you'll get a better one too I think.

All that said, IVs make little difference in actual use and Alakazam isn't critical in the current meta so for me, I wouldn't power yours up, but I haven't powered up much of anything other than my Laprases...

...so, my opinion is pretty worthless...

and play the way which would make the game fun for you :)

86.7% iv with the best move set yes I would power it up. Not worth going through the pain of getting another one with the best move set for only a few more iv points.

I'm a Mystic trainer. Abras are quite rare plus its highest flee rate that I only manage to have one above average Alakazam with PsychoCut+ShadowBall. After the buff, he stands around 2100CP. Now I have collected enough candy for another one but the best Abra is at certain level (IV below 80%). It's a rolling dice game to see which move set I will have.

Having the best moveset is why better than having a high IV, I think you better power it up

Thanks all!. I will max him out!. I forgot to say this was my third try to evolve a Psycho Cut/Psychic one.

Strange question somehow. You already have decided that this alakazam will be worth powering up, as you have invested 125 candy into an abra with known IVs.
You developed him, got the best moveset... now just go on your way which you already have decided to go.

Hey Bruno, how are you bro?. Well the real question was if its a "bad choice" to spend dust and candies in a 86.7% IVs Alakazam powering up. Firstly i decided to evolve and just keep him on my bag as a gym prestige mon, but since i got the best moveset (was my third try, i did not expect this so im happy) i decided to ask for ur opinions and maybe start building him. I'll go for it!.

Hey Bruno, how are you bro?

Fine, thank you for asking.

Well the real question was if its a "bad choice" to spend dust and candies in a 86.7% IVs Alakazam.

I think, a 87%IV PKM with best moveset is always worth its candy - easily, because there will not so soon be a better use for those candy. The question is, whether its worth investing dust.
This depends on your style. If you like to fight with alakazam, to dodge every move - it is worth.

Firstly i decided to evolve and just keep him on my bag as a gym prestige mon, but since i got the best moveset (lucky cuz was my third try) i decided to ask for ur opinions.

Maybe one interesting option for prestiging: Just think about using a Kadabra. He can get psycho cut too and has a really high attack stat too. Its CP are even lower in comparison to attack stat. Maybe Kadabra is a better (cheaper in any case) prestiger than Alakazam.

Thanks for the Kadabra's tip!, really a better way. I enjoy dodging and Alakazam is such a cool mon imo, my style fits good with fast quick attacks. Your tips are much aprecciated, thanks again. I'll just go for it.

Max it out because getting better moveset is really hard. i have evolved 6 alakazam and still no psycho cut...

once you max its cp out then save for another evolve with even higher Iv.

I have one with exact same IV and moveset and I have powered it up to 2500 CP.

It's kind of up to you. I am pretty practical and hence I'd rather use Alakazam now as an attacker vs. wait indefinitely for better IV with the same moveset. But if having 87% IV vs. 96% IV makes a meaningful psychological distinction to you, then I would wait.

In practice though, Alakazam is an attacker, so you may lose out of a handful of HP at maximum but nothing that would make a material difference.
