Aggron future viability

So, if aggron will ever have a community day, learning meteor mash, how much would the dps increase and would it be relevant in any way?

I know you should never say never but i really dont think that will be the case. It would be an insult to players to use aaron as a com day pokemon.

A pretty significant dps increase, but still trails pretty far behind Metagross as far as raiding goes. May have some pvp uses that I haven't looked into.

With that said, Aggron can't learn Meteor Mash in the main series games so unless it can learn that by Gen 8 the chances of MM Aggron is close to zero.

Aggron can't learn meteor mash

Best case for it would be a rock fast move like smack down or steel Metal claw and Rockslide for a charge move. Though much like gardevoir and togekiss getting fairy fast moves, it wouldnt change a thing about the meta or their positions in it just make it slightly more useful but not enough to elevate them to major players. If aggron were to get better moves, it could be a decent tank counter to Articuno or things weak to rock like ice or flying types, but tyranitar will always hold supremacy over rock types, and metagross likely for steel types as well

However, it likely wont get a community day, its shiny is already out, and even if it does get one, it will be pure novelty

At this point, if Aggron was to learn a new move, it would probably be via an event (i.e. Breloom learning Grass Knot during the Hoenn event). The trend thus far for Community Days has been to give them to Pokemon whose shiny variants are not currently in the game.

In the main series, Aggron can't learn Meteor Mash, so that option is out. It could end up being more useful if its given a very powerful new move, but it would have to really be a strong one to give Aggron any relevance in raids apart from being "that Mon" that nobody likes to see. ;-)

Aggron has a great use, annoying the other teams when its 8 of you in a raid and you are the odd team out and have no shot at damage bonus, haha. Always a great thing to hear when someone says "Ok, who brought that F$%^ing aggron!?"

But in all seriousness, I agree, Cd's seem reserved for pokemon with a 'special' place in the series, pseudo's, starters, etc, the only odd ball was Mareep. Had special move events like this been out10 months ago, likely thats what mareep would have gotten rather than a CD

Like has been pointed out, Aggron can't learn Meteor Mash, but if it got a move with identical stats to Meteor Mash, it would still be 30% below MM Metagross in DPS. Similar neutral DPS to AS/DG Togekiss or FC/XS Scizor, so not terrible, but irrelevant for anyone who has Metagrosses.
