Adventure Sync working without app installed?

I noticed I never downloaded Google Fit and yet my Adventure Sync has been working just fine.

Has this happened to anyone else? I went ahead and installed the app just in case, but thought it was a little weird.

I saw on The Silph Road they noted that some people had reported the same thing and weren't sure if the api was baked into some android phones already.

Yes this is the case with my app as well. I don't have Google Fit and have claimed the rewards fine.

The way I understand it, Google Fit or Apple Health can make your walking distance accounted for in Pokemon GO while the Pokemon GO app is *offline*. However, if the Pokemon GO app is online, then it catches your walking distance normally and records progress for buddy, eggs *and* Adventure Sync.

It also syncs with Samsung Health (for me at least)

So I just downloaded Fit. Is there anything I need to do, or do they just sync up on their own? Also, I have an Android phone, is there any other legal program that syncs up with Go that I could download for stats?

It should be automatic. To make sure, in Fit go to settings>Manage connected apps and see if PoGo is connected. I would also try to take a walk with the phone in the pocket and PoGo closed an see if you get credit for steps and distance.
