It could have known Blizzard, an undodgeable ice move that is super effective vs Dragonite.

Yeah dragon trainer u shall learn what´s effective: ice is good against dragon + fly type and that´s what dragonite is!

--> u get way more dmg

Dragonite is absolutely the worst pokemon ever to fight Lapras. haha ;)

In Go though Dragonite only suffers 1.25x damage from Ice moves (or 1.525x from STAB Ice moves) because double-weakness will only be singly counted.

So your dragonite is 80% perfect. is that why its named 80.
im curious to what level you are seeing as your opponent was level 25

To avoid bad matchups like this, I keep this type chart in my wallet at all times.

That's why Steel Wing is good on Dragonite. It does extra damage to ice, rock, and fairy... Dragonite's weaknesses.

it does neutral damage to lapras though. so dragon breath is the better option for STAB anyways. its best just to avoid an ice type when attacking with dragonite. arcanine, flareon for lapras is better

There are a lot of reasons a high CP Dragonite would lose. The first is because you're over-estimating just what CP represents. The second is because of other factors between the two pokemon. A third, that could perhaps happen to anyone, is that their dps and/or battle performance is hindered because of lack of acquaintance with their move cooldowns (getting in the way of releasing charge) or the inability to optimally dodge because of lack of acquaintance with either your own pokemon's moves or those of whom it is battling, and/or lag.
