2x1 Gym Battles

Hi guys! I have a question!

I've been watching some youtube videos of people fighting a gym. One guy was attacking a Snorlax with a Golem in a gym when suddenly one Gyarados (from another player) appeared and they both finished the battle quickly.

How can you do that? I tried to do it with my girlfriend starting the fight at same time but didn't work.

PS: My gf and I were training. Maybe this only works when you are at a rival Gym?

u cant train together in the same battle
u can fight together in the same battle

If two players start the gym battle together then they will fight together all the way thru to the end. Its a great way to gain XP and take down a gym. The prestige taken is the same as if one person was battling but 2 players can take down a gym more than twice as fast. Obviously a huge savings on pots and revives as well.
