10K Egg Experiences

I live in a moderately rural area. There are a few nearby clusters of stops and gym on the main strip. Otherwise things are very spaced out. I walk a fair amount too. Furthermore I have been blessed with a GPS drift in bed that I sometimes exploit.

In an attempt to stockpile 10k eggs I often hatch all but one of my 2 and 5 km eggs before going out to play for real. While I'm doing this I don't spin stops. The last three times I've done this I've picked up a 10km egg before filling up all my slots. Not sure if this is a coincidence. Wondering if anyone else has the patience and experience in hatching eggs without spinning stops in between. Would like to know their findings as well!

I dont have any pokestops near me so rip. I wish there was a pokestop request system.

I usually fully dump my box before reloading due to similar things you talk about. I get 10Ks at about the normal rare described by Silph road studies, just over 10%. Sounds like you do too.

I know most know but it's worth noting that one does not get eggs from stops. They get mons. So the rarity of those mons dictate how often you see 10K eggs.

Yeah, BUT, I started stockpiling 10k eggs back before the Easter event, and again after. My drop rate for 10k eggs (aka rare mons) is definitely enhanced by having ONLY 10k eggs in my box (usually 4 or 5). I have been able to get a box full of 10k eggs in under 2 weeks, when I previously was lucky to get 1 or 2 per week. This has occurred while hatching (and collecting) FEWER eggs overall.
I have also found that the likelihood of a 10k egg is enhanced by only spinning stops that have delivered 10k eggs (rare mons) since the most recent nest migration. I am convinced that the stops associated with 10k eggs (rare mons) change with each migration. Call it RNG, but I have gotten more 10k eggs in the last 2 months than in the previous 6 months combined. My current percentage is running slightly over 20% FWIW. All of these have been collected since 4/28:

It has been suggested that an algorithm is built in that gives you more of the items you already have. I have experienced this with evolution items as well. I got ZERO, butkus, items between the first week guarantee of gen 2, and the return of the weekly guarantee, despite spinning over 2,000 stops. Now that I have 6 evo items in storage, I have gotten 2 or 3 per week from random stops, in addition to my weekly. Again, this is while spinning far FEWER stops than when I was desperately seeking evo items.

That's great and all but you are still talking about drawing eggs at the normal rate if you fill up with an empty bag. There may be some crazy, pointless, code related to all that butthe best way to figure that out is when it takes 2 minutes for a stop to register on the sever.

Sorry, I wasn't communicating clearly. I don't empty my box completely. I empty all EXCEPT the 10k eggs, then go only to stops that have delivered 10k eggs since the last nest migration. When I had a box full of mostly 5k eggs I would get 5k eggs over 80% of the time. I honestly believe "like attracts like".

I am in a very similar situation and do the same thing, wait till I have 6 10km eggs and then only turn over the 3 empty spots until there is a worthwhile event and then mass hatch.
I used to think the same thing about having them in my box increased the drop rate but after doing it a few times I've decided it was just RNG and cognitive bias.

I still do it but more to maximise the most valuable candies during double candy events.

I do similar but not from choice.
I let eggs run out, and I walk many eggs before catching more. When I go pokestop hunting, I can usually hatch a couple of 2km eggs just collecting pokeballs. This results in a 10km or 3 that I can leave in my pack and walk when in my local neighbourhood.

I just run out of eggs while I hunt in my neighbourhood...but there are no stops unless I go a bit further.

There are 2 ways to look at it...
1. It sucks that there are no stops around here, that are closer.
2. It is cool that there are mons that spawn around here, that I am able to walk and catch.

...either way, it results in the same thing you are describing.
