100% Level 3 Magikarp

Been hunting like a mad man for this day. Unfortunately its only level 3 and will cost 167,200 dust to bring it to the perfect round number of 3,000 CP at level 34.

Would you guys do it?

I had a low level decent iv shiny. Its 40 now. No regrets!

I wouldn't. My two Gyarados with Twisters have been staying at level 20 since Day One and will remain there as trophies.

I powered up level 2 Dratini to lvl 40 Dragonite. No regret.

That's because I don't have other dratini/dragonite with 15 att.

I think you can find 15att magikarp easily.

i have a slew of 15A garys. 15/14/15, 15/15/13 and 2x 15/13/15 each with either DB, B, DT. But I wanted my best one to have the waterfall...

I forgot to add:

I recently powered up my 100% gyarados from lvl19 to lvl35 to fight against Groudon. A bit disappointing if it has solar beam.

so now, I've the following lvl35:
1x 100% DT/HP
1x 98% WF/HP
1x 100% WF/HP

I caught a level 1 Heracross months ago when gen 2 first came out. This was when they were relatively rare. I made it my buddy for a few months and eventually powered it up to level 32. It took a bunch of dust/candies and looking back on it now, it appeared to be a waste but it was enjoyable for me having a project like that. I don't regret powering it up at all.

After the recent update, I’d say it’s worth it. I got my 100% Karp in a raid right before the update. I’ve dtopped a LOT into it, and it’s a beast.

The key questions are:
1. How much dust do you have?
2. How many decent Gyaradoses do you have? Do you need another?

1.3 mill dust
too many garys. but no 100%. do i need another gary? no. do i want one at 100% iv? hell yeah! do i want to shell out the quarter million dust? #firstworldproblems

Continue farming for a shiny wonder or even a perfect shiny.

More seriously, you have enough dust, so go ahead.

If you don't have anything else you might want to powerup, I'd go ahead and do it. You'll still have over 1mil dust. Though if it doesn't get HP when you evolve, I would also wait to power until you have enough CTMs and luck to swap to HP.

To me the ultimate goal of the game is having the best collection possible. I’d do it. Maybe in phases if needed, but I’d do it. Plus, getting through those lower levels up to L20 isn’t that expensive, so level 4 sounds worse than it is imo. And if you hatched that perfect fish from an egg, you’d probably do it without thinking too much about it.

I agree, in the very long term I actually plan to power every perfect mon I find, no matter how crappy the species. And I recently caught a 98% Larvitar @ lvl1, immediately evolved it (fortunately got B/C), it's now my highest CP mon and I can now reliably solo most Zam raids. No regrets.
