10 km for Eevee trick?

Do I need to walk the full 10 km to get my eevee to evolve into an espeon during this event?

Yes... full 10 km.

10km, two candy, daytime with good GPS, and must be your buddy at the time it is evolved.

People learned this the hard way with the last reduced buddy distance when only walking far enough for two candies gave them one of the original trio.
