It's been a while since we've seen something like this, but it seems that Niantic have made a small change to Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre raids...
Go Tour: Hoenn - Las Vegas is currently underway in -- you guessed it -- Las Vegas, and players in attendance have made reports of something somewhat unexpected; an abnormally high CP total for Primal Raids.
Anyone who knows the way that CPs and Raids work will know what that number means: The Primals are Tier-6 Raids.
So what exactly is a Tier 6 raid? In essence, it's the next level beyond Tier 5/Mega Raids. However, it technically also doesn't exist, as looking at these raids won't show 6 raid icons to emphasize the change. So what exactly is different about these raids? One simple factor; while Tier 5/Mega Raids have a whopping 15,000 HP, Tier 6 raids have a staggering 22,500 HP.
If you want more information on why this is a big deal, you can take a look at the article below for a full breakdown. Some of the specifics may be a bit out of date as it was initially produced a few years ago, but the basis still holds today:
What Does This Mean?
In short: you're going to need more trainers to take down these monsters. They have a 50% HP increase over what we expected, meaning the total minimum average DPS needed to win has gone from 50 to 75. This is going to be especially hard for less experienced players who don't have great counters, and it may require a fairly large raid group to secure the win; especially with the monster that is Primal Kyogre. In order to hopefully help players get ready, we've updated the recently created Primal Kyogre/Primal Groudon raid guides to reflect their new Tier-6 change:
So get ready to optimize, as these raids are set to be a bit of a trip for many of us! Best of luck taking down these ancient titans and collecting their Primal Energy to obtain their power for yourself!
