- Previously, Friendship, Gifts, Trading, and Trainer Battles were not available for anyone who created a Pokemon GO account under the age of 13
- This restriction persisted even if you aged out of the system
- Parents may now use the Niantic Kids Parent Portal to access these features

On June 10, 2019, Niantic revised a section on their Support website that detailed what a player can do to get their kids to access the social features in Pokemon GO that were previously inaccessible.
Using a new service called the Niantic Kids Parent Portal, parents can protect a child's account information and turn on social features such as Gifts, Friendship, Trading, and Trainer Battles.
