Little survey :P, how much IV Dragonites will let you use dust to strong it?

Including Dratini.
1. Anyway but must have good movesets
2. 90%+ IV and good movesets (atk or def)
3. 80%+ IV is enough and good movesets
4. High IV and good movesets after evolved, but very low level.
5. Only like the one with high level.
6. Only like high IV, do not care movesets.

Hmm......For me sometimes 2, sometimes 5 xD

I powered up a lousy SW/DC Dragonite with 42% IV, which I caught wild, from ~2300 to 2919 CP. A Dragonite is a Dragonite and it often sits in gyms for many days or even weeks.

I've never evolved a Dratini below 91.1%.
Until the valentine's event I always had a good Dratini ready to evolve before I had enough candy, but now I'm sitting on 200 candy with no 90+ Dratini.
Shouldn't complain, though, as I've been lucky enough to run into two 100% Dratini.

When it comes to Dragonite I power up to lv30, since every Dragonite Moveset is usable. Only A-rated movesets are worthy of going above lv30.

Number 2 for me, stardust is the most valuable currency in game so i'm very jealous of what i pick and actually only have 2 max pókemon (lvl 34.5) 1 dragonite DB/DC 93.3% and 1 blissey ZH/HB 100% (regret about this because cause is nearlly usless imho)

You regret your 100% IV Level 34.5 ZH+HB blissey??? Man...give me your phone number and when trading comes out I will greatfully trade it for any poke in my bag.

For me lvl 20 and 82% IV with good (even if not the best) moveset. I could compromise a few of levels for better IV's (90%+), and a lot of levels for 100% IV's. Notice that for me I won't even evolve the pokemon if it doesn't fulfill my IV/lvl requirements. Once past that, if the moveset is usable, I'll definitely power it up.

For me for Dragonite I need lvl.20+ and 84% or more to evolve. After that and already having invested 125 candy I will power him up to lvl 31,5 regardless of moveset. That's right around 3100 CP and allows you to be placed high in gyms and take down everything in your way. (I have DB/DP, SW/H, SW/HB, DB/HB)

For me number 5, I don't mind about the IV for dragonite. They are too rare here to worry about that.

A few months back I caught two Dragonaires 5 minutes apart at the same spot. One was 76% and one was 78%.the real kicker was that one was level 29 and one was 28. I held out and evolved both into my first two DB/DC Dragonites. I saved enough candy to evolve at least one more Dragonite I would otherwise have wasted candy on. I think since so many of them had such a high chance of getting the defensive skill set that it's worth it to evolve the high level ones to save the candy and have a high enough CP to put them in gyms without even more candy spent.

Of course in my case that plan kind of backfired beautifully.

Dragonite is the most common high CP gym defender. Your trainer level becomes a much larger limiting factor than the IVs at a certain point due to Dratinis being farmable. Yes, IVs can make a difference in gym placement but the gym you choose and how far you power it up matters more.

I focus on moveset. I have DB/DC Nite that gets as much attention as my perfect IV one. I use my dragonites for attacking primarily, and throwing in gyms secondary. If you have the candy available to you I would power up any Nite you have with a moveset you like.

Is this dragon for attacking or defending? If it's just for attacking IV wont matter too much imo.

If it's for defending IV is more of a factor, but with dragonites you can't be too picky due to their rarity. (For most people)

I'm quite lucky and have caught 11 in the wild. Me personally, I powered up the ones with the highest CP with the best defending movesets so that I could use them in gyms ASAP. You never know when Niantic might change something that will relegate your poke to gym hades, (RIP poli slowbro & lapras) so I have found to stay at the top of the game you gotta do what you gotta do.

6 for me since I usually use only 1 or 2 Dragonites for tearing the whole gym and dust is not really a problem for me..

I've evolved 96% IV and higher to the max with DB/DC, SW/DC, and SW/DP Dragonites. Still searching for high IV DT/OR. I've been farming Dratinis since the beginning.

I live in a Clefairy rich biome and have caught 19 wild Dragonites. Two of them were caught from my couch and the rest have spawned more or less randomly in nearby streets. I have only caught 33 Dratini, hatched 3 and evolved none.

I spent the majority of my scarce Dratini candy on my top6 Dragonites who are all 2900cp+ with 58%+ IV and were caught at lvl 14-28. I also have a few caught at 2300cp with 20-30% IVs, which won't be invested in. I'm not too concerned with movesets, as 4-5 of them sit in gyms mostly and I use whichever DB one available as an attacker.

So far in 2017 I've only caught one wild Dragonite, so it seems like I'll get the chance to max out a few of them while I attempt to rid the streets of all the Swinubs.
