PVE Offensive Moves Explanation

  • Dragon Tail benefits from STAB, and is the superior choice for PvE offense.
  • Bite has no use.
  • Dragon Claw pairs well to fulfill a Dragon-type role, and deals consistent damage as a 3-bar move.
  • Night Slash could have some use as a secondary Charge Move for clearing gyms, but doesn't fit Druddigon's main role.
  • Hyper Beam is too slow and can't be Super Effective against anything.

PVE Defensive Moves Explanation

  • Dragon Tail is preferred for defense due to its significantly higher base power.
  • Bite is a poor move for defense.
  • Night Slash is more favorable for defense due to its neutral hit against Steel-types.
  • Dragon Claw has the best damage output against neutral attackers, but is doubly resisted by Fairy attackers.
  • Hyper Beam is too slow and can't be Super Effective against anything.

PVE Overview

Druddigon is cool looking Pokemon to many players, but an inferior one in the meta scene. Its stats and moveset are subpar compared to existing Pokemon like Rayquaza or Salamence, making it a dex filler for pro players, and a budget option for newer/returning players. It's not a bad Pokemon, but probably not worth the resources.

PvP Moveset Explanation

Dragon Tail + Dragon Claw and Night Slash

Dragon Tail is superior to Bite in both damage output and energy generation, not to mention also benefiting from STAB.

Dragon Claw and Night Slash both cost very low amounts of energy, allowing them to be used frequently. The former hits harder against neutral opponents thanks to STAB, while the latter is useful against popular Steel-types who would resist Dragon-type damage, in addition to extra threat against Psychic and Ghost Pokemon.

PvP Rating Explanation

Great League: 3 / 5

Druddigon as a mono-Dragon Pokemon is quite vulnerable in the Great League with its high ATK stat and consequently low bulk. Unfortunately Azumarill, one of the most commonly used meta Pokemon in this league, completely walls Druddigon with no mercy, making it hard for this Pokemon to compete outside of specific formats. Its moveset is quite strong and spammable though, and has similar performances with other Dragon-types in this league such as Goodra or Dragonair.

Ultra League: 3 / 5

Druddigon's moveset is notably spammable, and is more consistent than the likes of Goodra or Kingdra. Druddigon's inability to touch any Fairy-types is a huge nail in the coffin unfortunately, and to add further insult to injury Giratina essentially denies Druddigon any chance to play outside of restricted formats.

Master League: 2 / 5

A max CP of 2732 at level 40 is somewhat poor for a Pokemon trying to compete in Master League. Even at level 50, Druddigon is basically blown away by its rival Dragonite, and is considerably disadvantaged against Garchomp from both stats and coverage perspectives. At the very least Dragonite can injure Togekiss with Hurricane. Druggidon.....let's not go there.
