Will the battle simulator help me when defending?

This question is aimed @gamepress. I'd also like to add that I'm really impressed with the work you do here. Just...wow so much info thank you so much.
I'm really excited for the upcoming battle simulator! I'm hoping that it will help me pick pokemon to defend gyms and maybe pick for leveling gyms? I understand more now which pokemon are best to defend thanks to the teir list, but I'm sometimes left guessing when i have a high teir (snorlax for eg) who's a lower level than a higher level, lower teired pokemon. Then there's pokemon like wigglytuff and hypno, who don't get high cp. How do I know when to choose them over a higher CP pokemon? These are things that I hope a battle simulator will help me with. Keep up the great work! ?

The best defenders are the ones that will stay in a gym the longest, so that means high CP pokemon that will be last to be knocked out. No determined attacker will be stopped no matter what kind of pokemon you put in, but defending is mostly about making a gym LOOK like a pain to take down

I can somewhat agree with this but CP is far from everything. A lot of it comes down to how knowledgeable the attacker is. For instance, I know that a CP 1800 Snorlax is a lot tougher to take down than a CP 2000 Flareon. On the flip side, a less knowledgeable player might THINK my 1500 Wigglytuff would be a piece of cake then recoil as all of their potions disappear.

Agreed on potions. I don't know how people are keeping up on revives and heals. I'm depleted from keeping up with 1 gym daily. It's easy to win, hard to keep stock.

its not the pokemon that will defend the gym,
its the players.
