Useless Single Evolution Mons
I'll preface this with saying I've never played a pokemon game before PoGo. Is it just me, or is Gen 2 full of useless single-stage evolution pokemon? I'm looking at Murkrow, Wobbuffet, Yanma, Aipom, and probably others I haven't discovered yet. What's the deal with all of these? Did they have some niche use in the original games, or do they evolve in later generations, or what?

What is a useless pokemon? One that is not usable for competitive gym fights? How many "useless" pkmn are there in Gen 1? A lot...
It's not a new fact.
Some useless pokemon from Gen1 got a way better evolution in Gen2.
Some useless pkmn (from both Gen1and2) will get a useful evolution in Generation 4.
There's a very useful and majestic pokemon in Gen2 whose has only a basic stage: Heracross! Painfully asking: please, Heracross migrate to the whole world locations!
Murkrow, Yanma, Aipom, Gligar, Sneasel and Misdreavus later got their evolutions.
In the original games, others have their niche... impossible to export to PoGo.
- Wobbuffet. Makes the counter-game, doubling damage after being hit.
- Sudowoodo... well, have its role, and still hits hard.
- The Unowns has its own tales (and always were the challenge of complete the alphabet)
- Girafarig. Was more interesting concept than anything.
- Dunsparce... ok. Something about a Japanese mythical creature.
- Qwilfish. I loved it. Spikes and temper.
- Shuckle. The supreme defensive pokemon ever, with all about non-offensive game, like poison, change stats, etc.
- Heracross. Bug power, always a pain.
- Corsola. Decorative as corals everywhere.
- Delibird. Santa's gift.
- Mantine. Some use, but never like Gyarados.
- Skarmory. Mixed use, but always a hard bird to fear.
- Stantler. More for side games.
- Smeargle. Can copy ANY attack for itself. Despite weak, a lot of possibilities.
- Miltank. A cow tank, with all that implies.
