I think its plain as day how bad they nerfed Lapras. I'm trying to figure out why though. I think Lapras would add variety to the upcoming meta and would naturally be less important in the new meta anyhow. It isn't like Lapras was going to be more OP thanks to the infusion of the Gen 2 pokemon. RIP Lapras. I hope someday they resurrect our old loch ness friend.

Lapras got nerfed more than you think
It's not only the stats... Here is why lapras shouldnt considered a strong pokemon anymore
1) base stats reduced (especially attack)
2) now it can learn water moves (water gun/hp). Thats bad news because it just an inferior vaporeon. No real use as water pokemon. The only use would be as a pure ice with both moves ice type, so to be dragon killer. This is extremely rare now to get
3) Laprass' enemies have increased as many more pokemons got fighting attacks (gengar ursaring hypno etc) and fighting attacks are very strong now. Don't forget the other weaknesses of lapras too. Tyrannitar will destroy the poor lapras
Sorry guys... I have a 96% superb lapras with ice shard and ice beam and it was my pride :'( I walked with over 300 km (and in this event too) so to max it. But let's face the new reality. Now lapras is a mediocre defender (I doubt it will have any position even in tier 3) and the single use of the old lapras is as dragon killer. The new lapras we will catch/hatch will be even worse

i feel your pain my 2.8k FB/B Lapras also drop to 2.4k. Moreover, Ice quick move also got nerfed so hard, FB got 1.4CD and Lowering IS power 15-->12 at least they should make FB 0.9-1.1CD just like the top tier quick moves Counter DB WG etc. and just make IS more like confusion = more raw power more CD. Aside from Blizzard, Ice is pretty garbage now.
I have walked over 600 km between my four lapras, they are my favorite Pokemon. The reduction in attack is noticeable although not so much on defense. All but one of my lapras is over 85% I think what we need to do is keep voicing our opinions about this, Niantic needs to make the decision themselves that reducing the power of a Pokemon that so many people invested so much time into is a very poor business decision. Make fun of me all you want but I have probably spent about $100 on this game mostly for item storage and incubators but I will not spend a cent more until lapras is put back where she belongs stat wise and we can be assured none of our Pokemon will be affected like this again. I suspect they will notice their error and correct it but everybody who cares enough about the matter should make it clear how they feel. Unless they disagree with me then they should keep their mouths shut.
