Right now, the only "reward" is a chance for Smeargle to photobomb your picture which causes it to spawn in the overworld map for you to capture. From what people are reporting thus far, it looks like you can only encounter Smeargle once a day.
Aside from that, this is mostly just Niantic's new AR feature for those who like to snap interesting AR pictures of their Mons.
