Raichu (Thunder Shock or Spark/Wild Charge + Brick Break) Does good in great league. Has only one weakness and a 3-bar move in Brick Break. When shields are down, Wild Charge hits like a truck.
Vigoroth (Counter/Body Slam + Brick Break) Performs well in great league with nice bulk plus Body Slam goes through the enemy's shields like nobody's business. Also has coverage for Rock and Steel types if you don't mind spending 75k dust.
Magmortar (Fire Spin/Fire Punch + Brick Break) Makes for a great shield buster in ultra league with 2 3-bar moves both providing solid coverage.
Flygon (Mud Shot or Dragon Tail/Dragon Claw + Earthquake) Performs well in ultra league thanks to its great coverage. Dragon Claw destroys shields with ease and Earthquake makes for a powerful hit that enemies must be weary of.
I have a body slam Snorlax in the Great league, now thinking of buying a second move and getting Outrage for it. Problem is that it hits Dragons hard, but doesn't add much else, maybe coverage for Rock and Steel (resist normal).
Flygon, of course, EQ and DC are awesome, Mud Shot generates energy crazy fast, and Dragon Tail is pretty fast and does a lot of damage too. Even Stone Edge isn't horrible, it's just overshadowed by the other moves.
Hitmonchan, given a second charged move as a baby, hitting with Counter, Ice Punch and Thunder Punch, so a great fast attack, and can hit anything for at least normal, and usually SE damage with the charged attacks, as well as powering through enemy shields quickly.
Playing around with Lanturn, great Metagross killer, double resisting Steel, and bringing water and electric attacks, also very effective against water. Still not sure it's a winner, we'll see.
And of course, Giratina, either fast move is awesome, and the Dragon Claw and Ancient Power combination hits almost everything hard.
Heatran, though still somewhat relevant in raids/gyms, is a great Pokemon at taking down anything weak to Rock (with Stone Edge). Type effectiveness includes Flying, Bug, Fire, and Ice (so PvP Pokemon like Lugia and Articuno). I use it quite frequently in those matchups. Just gotta be careful of Ice/Water types, like Walrein and Lapras, as well as its double weakness to Ground. Other than that, Heatran is a good option.
Most pokemon that are any good in great league are completely irrelevant in raids/gyms.
Altaria, Cresselia, Azumarill, Bastiodon, Tropius, Meganium, Umbreon, Medicham, Vigoroth, Blastoise, Whiscash, Lanturn, Skuntank, the list goes on.
It's a rare pokemon that's good in great league and in PvE. Venusaur is one at least.
