So I asked this question once before but didn't really get a definitive answer. Now that double charged moves have been out for a while, maybe someone can explain this better.
I hijacked one answer out of another thread that said the following. Can anyone confirm if this is really the case? Here it is: "If a gym defender has two charged moves, the AI chooses them at random, subject to energy requirements (for example, a Gyarados with Hydro Pump and Crunch is unlikely to use Hydro Pump, but a Gardevoir with Dazzling Gleam and Shadow Ball would use each in about equal proportion, possibly both in the same battle)."
So, just to make sure I understand this correctly, let's say I have a Charizard that I want to put as a defender in a gym. He has Blast Burn and Dragon Claw. If the AI is mostly choosing the charged move based on energy requirement, is he basically just going to use Dragon Claw all the time? The reason I use this example is that I have a Charizard I would definitely like to use as a defender, but I would prefer it if the AI was smart enough to know which charged move would be most effective (especially if something like MM Metagross comes along - it would be much more preferable to have him use Blast Burn against that).
Now, I know that's a lot to ask from a game, but it would be so nice if they would just program type effectiveness calculations into the AI's decisions. (On a side note, if they did something like that, it would make raids a lot less frustrating, because people would actually use supereffective counters to raid bosses instead of the same stupid Aggrons and Cloysters and Ho-ohs over and over that the AI seems to love to "recommend" so much.)
