Finding Cranidos

I was fortunate to catch my first Cranidos last week. Wanted to ask how often they are being seen and if they are appearing in eggs (10k I would assume). The one I caught was NOT linked to a Poke Stop it was "Nearby" and I only knew of it as I was in a rural area with no Poke Stop. I saw a few more while in a car, spawning in remote places (ie not near Pokestops). Are others finding the same? that Cranidos spawns away from stops? This could be likely as this was the same situation in previous generations where "top Mons" like Bagon and Larvitar rarely appeared at Poke Stops in my location.

Crandios is a fossil pokemon. So expect it's rarity to be among the same as other fossil mons like Aero, Anorith, Lileep etc... So pretty rare, though biome would have an impact. They can be linked to a pokestop, I know this because I caught mine on one after seeing it in my nearly on a stop.

And regarding eggs, there have been no reports of any Crandios hatching froms eggs yet. If I had to guess an egg tier though, I'd say 10k (Because it's buddy distance is 5k).

Do you think the increase is fossil spawns is due to the introduction of Cranidos and Shieldon or might it be because some trainers are still completing their Meltan quest which required the "Anorith / Lileep" catches? Hopefully the former. What type of climate / biome do you live in? The fossils are all Rock (as I recall) so in dry / mountain areas they are supposedly more prevalent.

I caught five within the first few hours of its introduction. Since then I've seen 3 more so it seems pretty rare to me
