Gym visibility?

So the distance radius you could see gyms got increased for a very short time, now it has been reduced again to an even shorter distance than it was originally. Can see zero gyms from where I live now, does anyone know if this is a bug or intentional on Niantic part? Doesn't make any sense if it is intentional, will decrease the number of raid passes used & increase the use of scanners.

There has been no official mention of it, so nobody knows whether it was an accident or intentional.
I'd guess accident since it's painfully obvious that reducing the range reduces activity and thus revenue. If it was an accident, they'll probably increase the range in the next update again.

Same. It's incredibly hard to find raids now even in the city centrum where there are lots of gyms.

Before, I could see only 3 gyms near my house, then it was increased to 7 and now, I can see 5, still better than before.
