Gen 2 Speculation and a little Frustration
Ok so we know Gen 2 is coming this week, but I am still waiting to see any gameplay relatively similar to the trailer I watched over a year ago. They sucked us in with epic pvp bridge battles, group events to catch ultra rares in Time Square, and trading with friends. I have not seen anything even remotely similar to how this works. I would gladly give back my stupid baby pokemon, all candy earned from events, go back to level 10, and have no tracker at all if I could just battle with friends like in the original game. It’s like they advertised this to 20 somethings because of the nostalgia but then oh no people are cheating?! Oh well we didn’t see this coming so now we cannot implement trading or battling, it just wouldn’t be fair. If you didn’t forsee that young professional 25 year olds playing this game would cheat, then you are naïve. This is why they aren’t rolling out new features, because they want people who are obsessed with IV’s, stats, movesets, etc. to get bored with the game and be phased out and just have a bunch of 5 year olds playing that don’t care about any of that stuff. They do not care one bit about anything we want in this game. They are just going to release gen 2, the gameplay is going to stay the same, and it’s just going to give us more threads to start and preoccupy ourselves with until we catch all those, beef them up, and complain about how gen 3 is taking too long. There will continue to be a ton of threads about what I am saying in this post, and nobody on their end is going to fix it.
Am I the only one that is kind of pissed that nothing besides new mon, some stupid item carousel, and a new hat for my avatar are the only things changing with this update? Is everyone else basically saying yes it would be nice to have those things we were drawn to in the first place, but I just can’t wait to have Tyranitar, and it’s not like I’m not going to catch these new mon’ so……yea. I just want this game to be what it was advertised to be, and I don't think that is too much to ask. It's not like we are asking for something outlandish, we are asking for them to implement the 2 fundamental components of Pokemon: trading and battling. These have been a part of almost every type of Pokemon game since I was 7 (ok Pokemon Snap was dope even without those things).

That's how software development works man, you have a roadmap and try to follow it, then if something that needs to be fixed comes up, then it takes development time that was once allocated to features in the roadmap, and pushes those features back... If you are not happy, then go and develop your own game see how things go and then come back and tell us how successful you were... not.
Your idea of software development as a static procedure of making a map and then following said map is just so out of the box, you really blew my mind with that one. This sounds like the best way to attack anything in life: just make a plan and never deviate from it or adjust to changes or suggestions other than your own. You seem so open minded and thoughtful with real insight on technology that is evolving at an exponential rate.
Quite the opposite... my point, which you don't seem to get is... there was a plan, then if something happens that requires attention, that plan needs to be changed to address those issues. So yeah, trading and PVP and many other things might have been in the development roadmap, but soo much has happened that those features have been pushed back in order for them to address problems the game has found along it's life. You seem to be unable to grasp that, and YOU are just crying like a baby about what you want be in the game and it's not there yet. In that case, why don't YOU go and make a game as you like it and then come back and tell us how it went.
