Any reason to save for FP sceptile?

I recently looked up how sceptile with frenzy plant preforms compared to venusaur, and the results were....disappointing.

Bullet seed slows it down as a grass attacker in raids, fury cutter's the better option even when bullet seed's super effective one level above FC.

In PvP, FC/Leafblade is a very powerfil combination from what ive heard, and frenzy plant isnt as good comparatively, and nothing would change how frenzy plant compares to leafblade here short of changing LB's energy cost

Are there any possible grass moves sceptile could get for a fast move that could make it better in raids with frenzy plant?

IIRC, when the type advantage multiplier was 1.4x Fury Cutter was better against a target with a single grass weakness; they were pretty close either against a double weakness or with a weather boost against a single weakness; Bullet Seed finally pulled ahead with a weather boost against a double weakness. Bullet Seed is just that bad a move.

I have not checked, but with the change to 1.6x type advantage, Bullet Seed might come out ahead more often against a wider range of targets weak to grass.

But it doesnt put it ahead of other grass types.

im wondering if theres any possibility that sceptile could get another fast move that could make it a better grass attacker, as it stands, it is still worse than venusaur

I read somewhere that FP Sceptile would do slightly more damage than Roserade. Like .1 I think. So i think its more comparable to Roserade than Venusaur since they're both rather frail.

I guess you're right though, even though Roserade has the highest Grass dps atm, Venusaur is still arguably better since it has more bulk and Sceptile will likely be view as the same. Torterra then, in the future would likely be great as it has more bulk and attack than Venusaur.

Sceptile could get absorb if it's ever added into the game. Either way I don't think they'll be changing it's fast moves anytime soon. Writing this... I find it impressive that if Roserade were given Grass Knot, it'd be the one of the best grass types period. What a shame.

Sceptile is still going to be pretty solid even with bullet seed. It's weak, but it gains energy faster than any other grass move which is good when you have a powerful charge move like frenzy plant. Vine Whip would be a better fast move, but Sceptile with Frenzy Plant and any fast move will be grass DPS king.

I don't know how you get "disappointing" from FP Sceptile having a 5% DPS lead on FP Venusaur against a single weak target. 5% is a solid and significant advantage.

For PvP it doesn't matter, Sceptile's niche is spamming LB, otherwise it's a much inferior grass type to Meganium and Venusaur in both great and ultra leagues.

I don't know why you'd not save for FP Sceptile to be honest. Not much reason to evolve any now, it's a niche PvP pokemon and not that necessary for PvE at the moment.

You might want to look at the chart again since the effectiveness change. Against targets with a single weakness the better fast move can vary, I'm guessing depending on the enemy's bulk. Against Floatzel with its lower defense Bullet Seed comes on top pretty handily. Against Kyogre with its impressive bulk Fury Cutter *barely* has higher DPS, literally within a couple hundredths of a point.

As said above, PvP isn't really Sceptile's game to begin with. Meganium trumps it in Great League and Venusaur in Ultra.

Bullet Seed is a bad move, that much is true. The recent change in effectiveness has helped it stand out a little more though.
