Heatran investment?

Well it's clear that heatran isn't up there with kyogre, rayquasa, mewtwo, groudon and raikou. But it certainly fares much better than other legendaries. I was wondering where it stands compared to others? Is it a better fire attacker than entei or moltres?
I have one that's already 2630 cp and would rather invest in it than on other legendaries that are around 1400+ CP.
What's your take on it?

I always say to people that you shouldn't power up anything until you absolutely need it. We currently have no need for any fire types or do I see anymore reason in the near future.

Heatran's a great pokemon with great stats. It's movepool isn't optimal at the current moment making it perform worst than Moltres or Entei. Id advise that you stock up candies and such to use when it returns in the future with a better movepool.

Fire-types remain useful for gym offence, as the optimal counter to Metagross (which is very common) and Exeggutor (which has Seed Bomb for coverage against Tyranitar), not to mention resisting Fairy moves.

I think you should get it to 2700 and then leave it. It's already past the Ultra League threshold and in Masters it'll be eaten alive by Groudon, Kyogre, Machamp, you name it!
And in gyms, it's passable, but by then there are better options. (I guess it could be a borderline passable sunny generalist)

Unless you're planning on soloing a Tier 4 Raid Boss or hitting a certain breakpoint, you really shouldn't keep investing in it, as even Flareon is better DPS wise, and a high CP/IV one can be easily obtained using the name trick. BB Charizard was also quite abundant in December, and Moltres and Entei are yet again research breakthroughs.

Remember, DPS is arguably the MOST IMPORTANT thing in raids, and Heatran's really isn't up to par, and it usually only serves as a fifth/sixth spot anchor in your party to prevent early faint outs.

That's just my take on it.
