Will I power up my 97.7iv vaporeon for def purposes??

I have tons of vaporeons but this one is special coz of its near iv perfection.. 15/14/15 the only problem with this is its a water gun / water pulse skillset.. would have been better if its my attacker because of the meta of the game which they counter vaporeons right on the get go.. he is like 1.9k cp.. or will I save up the candies for gen 2??

Gen 2 is far, far off so no need to save candies (unless your region is low on Eevees), but a Vaporeon is pretty poor at defending, even with Water Pulse; which is its best defensive moveset. I'd suggest just let it be and power up an Attacking vaporeon whenever you get a good one instead.
Edit: I'm meaning poor at defending compared to other Pokemon

If you take a look at the Gym Defenders Tier List, you'll see that Vaporeon is actually one of the best defenders. And if you look at Vaporeon's page, you'll see that Water Pulse is actually the best defensive move.
I heard someone once make the argument that dust should be spent on defenders, not attackers, because defending is so much more difficult. So if you actually care about holding gyms for more than 24 hours, spending dust to power up an ideal defensive Vaporeon is a very good idea.

No, the best moveset is aqua tail of hypulse, will be a waste of stardust, i had the same bad luck sometimes

Vaporeons are generally easy to get and power up, and make good, high CP defenders. Your pokemon has the best defending moveset. I would power him up unless evees are rare in your area.

Power that bugger up, don't even think it's in question unless you have 10 gym defenders that are better.
