Cloyster as counter to dragonite
I don't have an attacking lapras. So I'm thinking to leverage cloyster with FB/B.
Given the gym dragonites mostly 2800 - 3300 and my average dodging skill, what is the optimal CP/level of cloyster? Any view from practical battles.
Thanks for sharing your experience.

players here are either amazing dodgers or like to exaggerate. I've a 2k frostbreath blizzard cloyster and he can take down 2 dragonites but only if they dont have steelwing dragon claw/dp and you are dodging the charge moves. If its a 3k dragonite with dragon claw particularly youll be doing well to get through 1 of them.
I've fully powered up my FB/B Cloyster to level 33.5 and he amazes. He will beat any 3k plus Dragonite with barely any dodging if you are in a hurry or don't need to, and if you do dodge, oh my, no Dragonites are safe.
I'm in the same boat as you with no Lapras, but if you power that Cloyster up, he will amaze you in Dragonite encounters.
I assume from your question that you are interested in prestiging rather than clearing. A half-powered cloister with that move set will be sufficient to take down a dragonite. I would power him to half the CP level of mid-gym defenders in your area (as one doesn't normally prestige at the top).
If you want to take down enemy gyms, max that bad boy out, you won't be disappointed.
First thing you have to know about cloyster is that it has high defense but low HP, so you want a cloyster with a high stamina IV (mine is 13/15). Don't get too worried about its defense IV (its defense is so high that the IV won't make much difference). You also want a decent attack IV (at least 8).
Dodging charged moves is very important. Hyper beam is easy to dodge since there is plenty of warning (you can see the energy ball being charged up). However, dragon claw can be an issue. If you're dealing with dragonites that are 2800 - 3300, you want a cloyster that is at least at level 32 (and even that might be too weak to deal with steel wing/dragon claw combo). If you can get your cloyster up to about level 36, then you should be set for dragonites that are sub-3000. As for the dragonites that are over 3000, cloyster alone might not be enough to beat them if they happen to have steel wing/dragon claw.
Fyi I'm only at level 31 and stopped caring about exp after reaching 31, and I don't play as often as more experienced players. From my experience, steel wing/dragon claw gives me a lot of trouble even though gamepress says steel wing/dragon pulse is the best defensive moveset.
