Tier -> Rating

Rating should show, how good a pkm is useable.
Tiered lists for Attack and Defense should show how good a pokemon is useable on attack or defense. So, tier and rating are somehow connected.

I have a proposal, that gives a pokemons Rating according to tier-placement. With this proposal, rating and tier lists can be checked for consistency.

This works only for tiered pkm, for the others, rating is not really usefull imo.

My proposal:
(1) Max Tier
find the highest tier for a pkm in either attack or defense list. This tier gives a start rating:
Tier 1; 1,5 -> Rating 9
Tier 2; 2,5 -> Rating 8,5
Tier 3 or more: -> Rating 8

(2) other Tier
find the pokemon on the other tier list. If it is
- listed, same tier range: Rating +1
- listed: Rating +0,5
- not listed: no change

(3) useable Movesets;
Check, how many movesets are A or B for tiered attack or defense (an A or B -Moveset on Defense is only taken into account, if PKM is listed in Defense-Tier-list)
5..6 of 6: +0,5
3 of 3: +0,5
2..4 of 6: no change
2 of 3: no change
1 of 3: -0,5
1 of 6. -0,5

Example: Exeggutor
(1) Max-Tier: 1,5 for Attack; Rating 9
(2) other Tier: 2 for defense; Rating +0,5
(3) Moveset 6/6 Movesets are rated A/B for Defense; Rating +0,5
So I would give Exeggutor a 10 rating.

Example: Polywrath
(1) Max-Tier 2,5 for Defense: Rating 8,5
(2) other Tier: no; Rating remains 8,5
(3) Useable Movesets: 3 of 6 for defense, attack does not count; Rating remains 8,5

So I would give Poliwrathr a 8,5 rating.

I think, with this algorithm, rating could be reworked for tiered Pokemon, and some questionable ratings could be corrected.

I would be glad to read your thoughts.

Interesting in a good way, I like it.
It is good that you sampled with Exe to clearly show that your proposal will rate the pokemon as a whole and not based on top moves only.

P.S. Shouldn't overall rating account also for prestiging value (for pokemons under 2300 CP let's say)? Or we see the ratings from a dust only perspective, as the tier lists?

At the moment, there is no tier list for prestigers, as far as i know prestiging is not taken into account for rating, and so i decided to ignore it completely for this approach.

Not a bad system.

I have reservations over some of the tier ratings which would skew the data, but no system is going to be more than a guide.

This is absolutely true. A questionable tier would lead to a questionable rating. As Gamepress seems to be somehow slowly reworking rating (and descriptions) after CP-change, they could concentrate their power on tier lists and have rating generated automaticly, if they agree with my algorithm.
