Can I do bubblestrat while having no gym worthy pokémon?

I'm only lvl 17 since I started playing really late: this month, due to other obligations.
I have no gym worthy pokémon since I collect all my stardust (until at least lvl 20.)
(I'll do my first lucky egg soon.)

I do however have plenty of 10 CP pokémon since I have never transferred any so far. I just keep buying bag upgrades lol.
I checked the Bubblestrat page and I have indeed found both defenders and attackers that should be good to use!

Can I just go in a gym and start doing this Bubblestrat? Or do you need a gym worthy pokémon as well?
Since I don't have a gym worthy pokémon, I can maybe use this strat on a gym that has my team's color already? Or isn't that possible?

Thanks!

Yes, bubblestrat does let you start on gyms fairly early. And because it's a good way to get big chunks of xp, it's also a good way for you to catch up on levels.

Yes! I definitely recommend you try it out! It's the fastest way to gain massive amounts of XP. My favorite bubblestrat match-up is Horsea and Diglett. Definitely turn on a lucky egg when you attempt to do this. The only downside to bubblestrat is the lack of stardust.
