Fully power up or not?

Hi is there any problem by maxing a pokemon to the limit?
A friendly player advised me not to make the last power up since the pokemon wont get the full cp he is supposed to.
For eg. I am lvl 30 and my dragonite is 30 as well, by powering him up to the max allowed 30.5 will he get the same 49/50cp like the other power ups or will it lose any cp?

Thanks in advance

Nope, it won't. You only get half of the CP after level 30. I myself have done the same, powering up as many of the Pokémon I use to level 30 and haven't touched them after that. You can keep powering them up above 30 if you have nothing else to use your stardust for. But I'd prioritize all the useful Pokémon to level 30 first.

Yes, CP gains are halved after level 30. So your Dragonite will only be gaining ~25 CP for each powerup after level 30. :(
