What's the obsession with Deoxys?
I'm hearing people rage about ex raids being cancelled, hearing how people took time off work to do Deoxys etc.
Seriouosly guys, why? It's a terrible pokemon, both in stats and how it looks. What's the obsession with it? i'm not just saying this as someone whose nostalgic about gen 1. I like many of the gen 3 Pokemon that i'd never heard of before they came out on Go. But Deoxys is just rank.
if it was Mewtwo i could understand, it's the most iconic legendary pokemon and that moment when we catch our first one feels great.
But it's not Mewtwo, it's Deoxys. So chill the F out and don't push aside your real life in order to get this blue and red squiggle. And if you do, you can't complain if the raid is cancelled ;)

For some people it's because they have a need to be the first ones to catch it and show it off on the internet for imaginary points and upboats. Those people are twats and can stand to chill out some.
Other people likely had to shuffle around work or other IRL obligations, only to have the raid get cancelled 20 minutes beforehand. Those people I can understand being upset, especially as someone who only has a limited amount of PTO each year.
Granted, no amount of being upset mandates sending death threats and ominous e-mails to Niantic HQ. That level of asshattery is completely uncalled for.
i didnt get an EX invite, but i think i know why, its peole going out to the ex gyms and not being able to to the EX raid, not everone liver close to them, (the closest one to me's about a 5 mile walk, s im glad i didnt get an EX invite) and others need to also take time out from other things to do the raid its not really about the pokemon itself, it just that they see it as they wasted their time from what i've observed.
That and its a free tier 5, and an easy one at that. getting good rewards out of raids is something, though to a lesser extent, that might be what annoyed them,
(Though personally i like deoxys, but thats just because i think it looks cool)
It's very rare. And people who have completed pokedex now need this. Everyone knows Deoxys is a crappymon. So what? So are nearly all the shiny pokemon out there - people still want them.
It has less to do with practical use and more to do with supply and demand.
In fact, at least in my (fairly large) circle nobody is rushing out to get it so they have a great attacker. They want it because they want to be the first to get it. Because they want to have what others do not.
Not everything in Pokemon Go is about raids and gyms. Sometimes you just play for bragging rights. Did you really not pick up on this?
So, my take? Don't be serious. Take time off from work. Go nuts. Catch this pokemon. Don't worry about the people who don't get it. If you caught it? I'm jealous! I'll be getting mine some day.
For the record I did not get an ex raid pass for this round, i wouldn't have done it if i had. Had real life to attend to and this pokemon isn't worth compromising that for. That's what i'm confused about, people sacrificing work etc. for this pokemon that's nothing more than a Dex filler
Like the Regis, it's something i'll get at some point for the dex and then forget it existed.
