Hitmonchan solo - marginal team

This team can beat a Close Combat Hitmonchan with only 1-2 sec left.

Don’t dodge! Tried 2-3 times but got hit anyway. Timing out is the big problem, not fainting.

If you got hit anyway you probably need to work on your dodge timing. I would assume Machamp rules apply where Alakazam and Espeon need to dodge enough to use Future Sight at least twice.

I remember trying an Ice Punch Hitmonchan solo during the fighting event and failing. Would like to take another swing at it and maybe Hitmonlee as well, assuming I can pull away from the T5 raids long enough to do so.

It just means you can't mash the screen for attacking. Controlled taps are better for any slower fast move like Counter, Fire Spin, Confusion etc. Play enough and you'll develop a feel for when you can safely start a fast move and when you need to wait a tiny bit to see if the boss did a fast move or a charge you need to dodge.

But controlled tapping is reducing DPS which is vital here. Even with 5 Ala + Esp you’ll almost not touch the sixth so forget about dodging.

The Alakazams and Espeons are underleveled, power them up to over 30. (Optimal is lv35+)

They are 30.5, actually one Espeon is level 35. They are good enough for Machamp and not worth any more dust.

A lvl 32 SA Moltres will help your survivability and your time.

Will Hurricane Dragonite serve as a bulky filler?

DPS is too precious against him. You have to turn to either legendaries or Gardevoir for bulk, otherwise practice your dodges.

With this team. Mewtwo has Shadow Ball so not at its best.

I didn't assume you had fully maxed near perfect/perfect counters. Congrats on the win, I didn't think Dragonite would cut it. What moves did it know?

It has DT + Hurricane but didn't use it at all. The win mainly relies on the Alakazam (one almost maxed the other level 31), Espeon (maxed perfect), Mewtwo (level 31) and Gardevoir (level 38). The boss has Close Combat and the weather is Clear.

Curious about how does the OP name the mons?

I'd guess [first letter of mon name][overall IV][attack IV][moveset] The "+" in front is probably for sorting by name.

Breakpoints being an exception, two mons of the same CP with different IV will generally speaking perform the same. CP is a function of stats with IV taken into account so between two members of the same species, it's a pretty good indicator of their relative strength. A 2500 CP Espeon is a 2500 CP Espeon, whether it's a 15/0/0 at level 34 or a 15/10/10 at level 30.

OPs team is marginal because the mons are underleveled, not because they have mediocre IVs. Species, level and moveset all matter much, much more than IV does.

True, but look at the other team above. Maybe 600-800 k dust more expensive and will take down a Close Combat boss with 8 seconds to spare instead of 1-2 seconds. Not worth the investment in my opinion.
