Fire Blast v.s. Flamethrower Charizard

Dear community, I'd like some experiences/opinions of yours of using a Wing Attack + Fire Blast or/and Wing Attack + Flamethrower Charizard.
I'm currently considering investing in Charizard.
Thanks in advance!

I have a WG FB charizard around 2100 cp, he is really good to kill exeggutor and is one of my favorites against snorlax, WG is a really fast move so you can dodge everything, so the FB just have to be used carefully, after the defender charge move. I am not such a good dodger, so I have trouble with psychic and body slam the defenders use during my Fire Blast, but solar beam, EQ and HB are easy to dodge. I really love my Charizard and would never change him for a FT one, but I think both of them are good.

Having both I prefer FB over FT. I dodge everything and believe at the end of a battle where FB is needed at least two times that the Charizard with FB will walk away with more HP than the Charizard with FT.

Fireblast is better damage overall and also very satisfying. I may look into trying for flame thrower with a prestiger though

If you like to dodge, FT is better. Slightly less DPS, assuming no energy waste from FB, but since you're not going to fire it off whenever it's ready (so as not to eat the opponent's charge attacks) FT provides basically the same DPS and more flexibility.

It's just a more efficient move.

what about dragon claw? my perfect charmeleon ended with that attack xD

It's much weaker with no STAB and Charizard's lower attack base stat compared to Dragonite. Maybe... Keep it until Gen 6 release and get a Charizardite X? Anyway, dragon claw is useless at least for now.

WA/DC is really good when taking on Dragonites. I enjoy using mine for that. I also use it against the grasses and have no real complaints.

My personal choice would be FT, but FB is good too. FB---> higher dps, more damage at one time, good for both spam or dodge players.
FT---> slightly lower dps, but it takes less time to charge and the duration of FT is shorter. For attackers, using FT is more flexible and makes dodging easier due to its short duration. For defenders, FT is quite a similar case to sth like Body Slam, Psychic, Dragon Pulse etc, you would never know if the Charizard will give another FT immediately after its first one, which is more threatening to gym attackers, meanwhile because of its high power, even the attacker managed to dodge the FT, FT is still quite punishing unlike BS or DC.

However, since Vaporeon are so common, fire types including Charizard don't make great defenders. Dragon, Water and Rock all resist fire (correspond to 3 of the top 5), so I think I'll mainly use him as attacker

Agreed, fire type pokemon are not good defenders right now. I put Charizard on gyms just to show off and help myself to train the gym easier lol

I just added a 91 iv WA/FB to the team and he's a monster on offense and defense. Not as good as my arcanine but definitely cooler. You gotta power up your favorite pokemon nobmatter what right?!

Very similar to your case! My FB one is also 91iv. And one reason I consider powering up Charizard is his cool looking. His attacking animation fits that of both FB and FT so well as if they were customized for him!
I'm interested in, though, how do you mean by "not as good as Arcanine"? In what sense?

WA + FT for me... I used to be an attacker trainer... Therefore dodging is my move specialty specially using low HP Mons (like Zam and Gegar).

Wing attack/Flamethrower always for attack
