Defender decay rate?

Is it still a thing to leave them just below 3k CP? I was reading that was lowered and it’s no longer viable to stop powering at 2999, just double checking.

The 2999 CP thing was fixed almost a year ago. The decay rate is the same for all pokemon above approximately 2300 CP.

EDIT: I was wrong. CP decay depends on the max CP.

Link please? As far as I know the maximum CP is the deciding factor for rate of percental CP decay.

The most up-to-date post I can find about the matter is here: https://www.reddit.com/r/TheSilphRoad/comments/8fcp9o/quick_gym_demotivation_reference_table/

It seems I was wrong about the maximum CP, I have no idea where I got that misconception from.

Thanks for the link. I noticed that this also seems to be the source of the equation 333-blue posted below. They used the same data of u/DrThod_PokemonGo I used, though I would be surprised if Niantic really used such an odd parametrization for the decay equation.

I am not aware of any changes done to the decay in recent times. Therefore, decay should still follow an exponential function with a floor of 1% CP_drop/hour:
CP_drop/hour = 1% + 0.3%*exp(MaxCP/700) ,
with MaxCP the original CP of the undecayed defender. The upper limit is 10% drop per hour; this cap comes into effect at 2381 CP (might be inaccurate in the details).

The 3000 limit has been gone for a long time.

CP lost per hour: max(4/3*exp((CP/1487)^1.5),10)/100*CP

Ok thanks everyone. I was out of the loop for a while, took a long break. This must have happened during that time.
