How much gold am I gonna get?

I've had my pokémon in a gym for over 4 days, at this point I just want it to be knocked out so i get my gold. I know the daily limit is 50 gold, but can it stack, so after the 4 days I get 200 for example? Otherwise, there's really no point in having a pokémon in a gym for over 8 and a half hours.

Welcome to one of the main gripes about the current gym system. The daily limit does not stack, so something defending for 8 and a half hours brings home the same as something that's defended for four days.

It actually makes sense that it's this way though. For one, remote gyms would be too powerful, much like in the last gym system, if you could gather coins for an unlimited period of time.

Secondly, since Niantic wants to limit us to 50 coins daily, they'd have to keep the data on when you got your coins from other gyms and when not if you had a defender in a remote gym for a long time, which is totally unnecessary server load for them.

And third, this keeps us playing every day if we want coins.

Yep, once you get your 8 hours and 20 minutes in, your pokemon start working unpaid overtime.

This is why gym transitions should be collaborative, not competitive. Simple idea, but so many players just don't get it.

A while back I was gonna take down a gym we just raided. The pokemon had been there nearly a week. Figured I would send them home. Than someone on the opposing team gold razzed them and laughed. He said gyms don't fall on his watch...I was doing those people a favor, idiot...

I'm glad it doesn't stack. The fact that it doesn't stack is what allows others to have a chance.

I remember back in the bad-ol-days where people would OWN multiple gyms for months.

It doesn't stack so you have no incentive to do what you're doing...hogging the gym. Stop throwing berries at it and ask someone to kick you out. Otherwise you're literally losing coins.

You do have an incentive to keep gyms, getting the gold gym badge and to a lesser extent the Gym Leader medal. Keeping a gym is the most effortless way to gold, even if it's slow.
