It has something to do with GPS error whether by jumping locations or drifting too far and then suddenly running back to your spot. It's because of the anti-location spoofing guard of Pokémon Go. Get that wrong by a set number of times and you'll get banned. That's how most scanners work. That's why they implemented the captcha.
Niantic asked me if I was a robot
Few minutes ago a white box with a big magnemite on top appeared on my screen, asking if I'm a robot. After that I had to click on all the pictures with a house. Those standard robot questionaries like when you've typed in your pw wrong too many times.
After that my gps and sigtings were gone and then again 2-3mins later the same "are you a robot" question following numerous pictures popped up. My gps and sightings then again started erroring...
Has anyone else gotten this? Cause I've never gps spoofed or used any IV app or something like that! So just wondering if this is just a standard procedure or if this is because of my sometimes drifting gps...

I constantly get this when I leave my phone plugged in at home for some reason. When I'm actually out and about I don't.
I think it's less likely to happen if you do get GPS drift, because then the game thinks you're an actual player since you're moving (or at least your avatar is). If you just stay in one spot for half an hour doing nothing, that's similar activity to an account that's just made for tracking.
Strangely enough my dad plays Pokemon Go and he gets really strong GPS drift, and doesn't get the captcha, although that's not conclusive, we do use different phones and are on different networks.
