Using incense during event?

With the event live, there's usually one starter on the nearby/sightings list throughout the day at my house. If I pop an incense will I get the same old pidgeys and weedles that's usually around my house? What are your experiences so far using an incense?

Question has been asked already, and there has been mixed results. Some saying they didn't get any starters to some that got multiple. I've used incense twice during the event from my home, I got 1-2 starters each time.
