Excellent Decision on *one-time trades* Niantic

I voiced my concern about this in the past, but I'm glad Niantic clarified that each pokemon can only be traded once.

This will prevent abuse of the systemーsuch as trading back and forth that I've already read some players were ready to do in order to try and create some perfectsーbut it'll also make the trades more important as your list of potential trade candidates goes down.

The only pokemon I'm personally interested in attaining are some regionals and a shiny Mareep (cause I was busy most of that CD).

As a note, I still wish There'd be a chance of trading perfects in a very limited but safe way : /

Not that I don't believe you (I do), but do you have a source for this, preferably with a link?

Does this mean a Pokemon can only be traded to a particular trainer one time, or that Pokemon can only be traded once, period? I had planned to trade for a Kangaskhan and then trade that Kangaskhan to my fiancee. It doesn't sound like I'll be able to since it can only be traded once.

Bit disappoint we can't chain trade pokemon to different friends, but I guess I'm okay with it as long as they do not implement any trade triggered evolutions (which we would be unable trade back to original trainer).

So with all the trade restrictions, what is the purpose of trading again?

Same as before, now you just can't chain the same rare through a group of friends, you need a separate pokemon for each. Makes it a bit slower for everyone to get regionals which I personally think is a good thing.

The really great purpose will be to trade stardust for extra candy and IV rerolls of rare pokemon. Say you and a friend hatch a Bagon and a Beldum with not so great IVs. You trade them to each other, both get a candy and a chance to score better.

I have encountered kyogre over 30 times now and not even saw one over 90%, and saw 7 mewtwo and not one over 90%. We shall see.

Not a fan of the high stardust cost on pokemon not yet in your pokedex.

To me, the whole point of trading would be to help fill gaps in your pokedex of pokemon that just don't spawn in your area. I have loads of holes in my pokedex. It has nothing to do with finding rare encounters - a lot of the pokemon I'm missing are really common in other areas.

I'd be fine with putting that restriction on top evolved forms of these pokemon, but the first form should be fine. They need to walk it a lot to evolve it still, so the effort is still there. Would seem ridiculous that I'd need to pay a huge cost for a Mareep because I missed that community day and still don't have my first, then need to walk it enough for 124 candies afterwards (or also pay a lot to trade for Flaffy and Ampharos).

At this point the only holes in my Pokedex are from regionals, unreleased Pokemon, and Unown. I think it bites that the cost will be higher for 2 of those 3 but we don't know yet if it will be the same 1 million dust we saw for legendaries or if it will be somewhere between that and a regular trade. I'm gonna hold my tongue until I see what exactly the damage is.

A fine-print question that may be clearly worded somewhere: to get friend/buddy progress do you have to win the raid?
