special task 5/8 catching ditto?

Caught a Remoraid yesterday that was really ditto, tough to get verified info on the internet when spawns and events change so frequently. That can be a ditto right now.

Went several weeks and 1000 Pokémon without seeing one. Found two in the last 2 days. It’s RNG.

If you're catching 80+ a day and haven't found one in 4 months, you're either incredibly unlucky or don't have a clue as to which crappy pokemon could be ditto (or else you waited too long to do this task and now they don't spawn as often during the latest "events").

You got unlucky with the events. I was waiting 3 weeks on it and then the Kanto event started whenever that was and I got one on like the 4th day of the event. Catch every pidgey and rattata and hoothoot you come across.

Yes, get the list of ditto candidates, and catch them all. Are you in a raid group with some sort of internet connectivity (facebook messenger, telegraph, discord, etc.)? If so, post on there that you're looking for a ditto, and people might chime in when they find one. Also, some people may have the research task 'Catch a Ditto' and they would appreciate the info.

I got lucky. Advanced to that stage of the quest just before a raid on campus. Walked back from the raid to my office, caught a ditto on the way, so it took me about 8 minutes to complete. Found another an hour later, and another later that afternoon. I think they upped the ditto rate so people could do the quest, and have since returned it to normal.

Stick with it, you'll get it eventually if you do the right things.

Catch every Remoraid you see. Right now, that's the only advice that can be given - maybe when the Water Event ends the normal Ditto Pokémon will spawn again in great numbers and you'll find your Ditto.

Also, if you've got a local Discord server, keep an eye on it; where I am, people often post when they catch a Ditto because so many people are looking for them.

The longest I've gone without finding a ditto is about 5 days but usually get 1 or more a day. The events certainly don't help, but make an extra effort when it's PC out and you'll find one. Knowing what event mon is ditto helps too: during fighting event was mankey, during water event it's remoraid.

I had no problem with that task because I live close to a place where Ditto isn't that rare. I caught four during the weekend when the quests were introduced.
Talk to other players and see if they know of any place where Ditto are more likely to spawn. Or go on Silphroad and see if there's like a Pidgey nest someplace near you.
Otherwise you just have to get around to different places and catch every Pokemon you can find (atleast those that can be a Ditto).
