What is STAB?

I keep seeing references to STAB when talking about movesets but I can't find an explanation of what this is?

STAB = Same Type Attack Bonus

For example, if an Ice type pokemon has an Ice move, then that move's damage will be more than if a mon isn't Ice Type (I think it's 25% more, but I'm not sure).

For example:

Lapras Ice Beam (with STAB): 20.82 DPS

Slowbro Ice Beam (no STAB): 15.89 DPS

Followup question.

I have read that rhydon with Stone edge doesnt have a STAB on it and so it doesnt matter if u hit snorlax with that or earthquake. (Super effetc with no stab = STAB)

But why doesnt He has STAB on rock when He Is rock too?

It does have. What you said is true for its quick moves. Rock smash dors not have Stab since it is a fight move. It has super effectivness vs. Snorlax. Mud one is not super effective but has Stab, so it is still marginaly superior to rock smash. So if tou have rock smash one, use it in snirlax, if mud one, you can use it better also agains others.

So that means that rhydon with SE Is uncomparably better vs snorlax than the EQ oné. Yet many ppl here says IT doesnt rly matte. That Is what i dont understand

Why would you say it is "uncomparably better"? SE and EQ are actually similar charge moves in terms of damage output - and both benefit from STAB.
