Rhydon mud slap vs rock smash

I was thinking why mud slap is considered so much better than rock smash. Rhydon's primary use is against snorlax and in that case these both quick moves are almost equal. Mud slap has STAB but rock smash has SE so both are multiplied by 1,25. However MS has slightly shorter CD and slightly better EPS but these are marginal differences.

I wish one of my Rhydons had mud slap lol I'm not a fan of slow quick attacks.

They're both slow. It's hard to fit two hits in between the opponent's quick attacks with Rock Smash as well as Mud Slap.

Basically MS makes Rhydon much more versatile - yes against Snorlax there's not much in it, but if you're going to use him against anything else (and he is a decent generalist attacker and usable defender as part of a decently mixed gym) MS carries the edge.

At gyms there are dragonites, snorlaxes, laprasses, vapes, rhydons gyaradosses and exeggutors. Against which else than snorlax rhydon is a good choice?

Fire types, if you sometimes see those in your area's gyms - Arcanine is still quite common here.

But yeah, on the other hand, Vaporeon.

It does depend on your local gym population. We still get a lot of Flareon and Arcanine in gyms. From your list he's sub-optimal against all of those, but he does okay against other Rhydon and non-hydro pump Gyarados. If you're attacking a lv8 gym with a Snorlax in it you don't really need to switch him out for anything but a grass/water type.

You just answered your own question. Mud Slap is just better in every way, it is even better against Snorlax.

Yeah it is better, but against snorlax the difference is unnoticeable. The case is that I have 93% 2700+ CP Rhydon with rock smash and Stone edge. Thus I want to know if i still try to get MS and SE/EQ Rhydon

Well, if that's what you use to attack Snorlax it should be enough. Like said, you don't really use Rhydon for anything else, in fact, I don't use Rhydon at all even though I have a 93% Mud Slap / Stone Edge.

My thoughts exactly. Against a snorlax there's no difference in which quick move you have. However, the rock smash animation looks perfect against a snorlax.... a big fist punching into that fat belly lol.
