Team Competition

Is there any data related to which teams dominate each region? I believe it would be fun if Niantic released global and local statistics on gym battles to the public, it could be even cooler if there's some sort of seasonal event with prizes for the team that dominates during a certain period.

I use a site to track gyms and according to them, roughly its 100k Blue, 76k Red and only 46k Yellow. GO INSTINCT!!! :)

Sadly doesn't work for the UK

I thought I read an article on the 'psychology' of why the majority of players picked blue a few months ago.

Maybe there are more mystic players but the color red is an aggressive and passionate color so it makes sense that a team that is not in the majority rules the gyms. Go Valor!

That would be interesting. I picked Mystic based on the descriptions. At the time the teams were pretty evenly split in my home town. Mystic now dominate (obviously mainly from my skillful play ;-) ). Where I work Valor have the biggest presence where a University seemed to adopt Valor en masse. All the gps spoofers I've come across have always been instinct (I've met perfectly nice instinct players too).
