Psychic is about 16% better than other charge moves so I wouldn't say all you need is Psycho Cut. I have also tried Alakazam and I'm not too impressed either. Maybe I'm too used to attacking with Dragonite that it's hard to impress me. Sure Alakazam can kill really fast, but so can Dragonite and with Dragonite you don't need to worry about missing a dodge...
Alakzahm without Pyschic
Okay, I have an Alakzam with Pyscho Cut / Dazzling Gleam and I went to prestige up a gym.
I usually like to beat 4-5 mons when I am doing that, and the first one was a Venusaur with high 1800s CP.
So I decided to try mty 1633 Alkazam and Dodged Dodged Dodged. I figured with the poison typing on Venusaur Pyscho Cut would 'cut' it up.
I won, but wasn't impressed. I tried a 1532 Magmar with Ember/Fire Blast and he finished the fight at a higher HP percentage and quicker than Alkazam.
Granted I got to use 1 Fire Blast vs Venusaur.
But my question is, I've read on here all you need is Pyscho Cut, but the more that I think and look at it, the less use I find for it. Everything seems to have some better option that I can use because of the charge move issue.
Any one have a similiar experience or can think of something that a Pyscho Cut Alakzahm is useful for without Pychic?

Alakazam has the same problem as Gengar. Nice attacking stats and good moves, but no natural matchup and low HP. Against grass, it's really hard to beat fire or bug moves with STAB and type advantage.
I really just use Alakazam and Gengar for fun and variety because you have to dodge pretty much every move to make them last more than 1 pokemon.
Not a fan of alakazam for offense either. Everything that is put in gyms has a better counter, I was pretty let down when I tried alakazam the first time.
My candy is going to a defensive kazam after fighting a high CP, I was impressed. Bring some variety to the local gyms and they are much better than I expected on defense.
