My first Tyranitar?

I recently caught a weather boosted Larvitar with these stats:

Lvl. 32 | CP 782 | 88.9% IVs | Attack: 15 | Defense: 10 | Stamina: 15

I don't often get a chance to do raids and on the few occasions where I attended a Tyranitar raid, no one showed up and I wasn't able to battle. I do not have any Tyranitars. I also only have enough candy to fully evolve 1 Larvitar into a Tyranitar, at which point I'll be back down to zero Larvitar candy.

Is it worth spending all of my candy to evolve this guy? I'm also asking because I honestly have no idea what defense does or whether having 10 defense is a serious problem even with the perfect attack and stamina.

Having 10 defense is the best stat for dps (you take more damage so you get more energy), having 15 Stamina is what you want.
It's worth it because its a 15 attack and you're saving yourself around 100k of stardust and about 85 candies to power up to lvl 32.
So you're basically using 40 more candy to save 100k stardust.

Please stop perpetuating the myth that low defense is a good thing for attackers. For this to happen, you need the lower defense IV to mean going below a breakpoint where your attacker takes more damage, have that be the damage point that results in a change in energy gain (every second point affects energy) and then also have that small amount, generally 4-5 energy, make the difference of launching a charge move or not. This has so far been a viable thing in exactly ONE matchup, with SE Golem against SoB Ho-Oh and only at specific levels.

If you don't have a Tyranitar then this one will be at EXCELLENT choice. Think of defense like this: defense determines how much HP you lose and stamina determines how much HP you have to begin with. Also, in some cases, having a lower defense can actually be a good thing as taking more damage allows you to fill your charge bar faster (at the risk of possibly fainting sooner).

Basically, evolve this Tyranitar. It's already at a high level, so it requires 0 stardust. Maybe one day you'll be able to do Tyranitar raids, but for now this one is an excellent choice.

What's more: when you do get another Tyranitar, this one will become a really solid second Tyranitar. And likewise at third Tyranitar.

Definitely evolve this Mon. It will be useful right away, which is important since you are low on candy.

Having 10 defense isn't a major problem. Sometimes your Tyranitar will take more damage from a raid boss/defender, most of the time it won't. Your Larvitar is by all accounts a great catch and evolving it is a great idea since you don't have a Tyranitar yet.
