Were you able to already replace the magikarp candy needed for the research task?

I needed 75 when it started, evolved, now back up to 425 candy. I didn't play extra hard in that time, but I generally pinap the fish since they normally don't jump out.

nope, but still have like 7000 karp candies

I had 3000 when I had to do the task so I just evolved a level 30 87% fish, after Kanto event I am on 3402

This was my 8th gyarados, so not necessary, but I had a level 18 15a/14/15 that it got me to evolve, came with double water, too. Have a 100% Gyarados level 30 that I obviously liked better, but good to shed and regain the 400 for the 98.

I had about 800 before I evolved was down to 400 and now I'm at 1375.

I did alright. Gained about 2500 candy.

I got back all 400 and more, I now have 688 karp candy.

I got the Ditto last night. Fortunately I got 382 candies, so not many to go, but I was naive enough not to check the next Special Research requirements... could have snatched some more carps during last week. It would have been a disaster if I had just evolved, because in my biome it takes MONTHS to get another 400 Magicarp candy unless I camp at the river...
