What happens if you delete a field research?

If I get one that is difficult to do in my biome, is there any drawback to deleting it?

Nothing happens. You can choose the ones you keep.

It doesn't even appear that you get better rewards for harder tasks.

There's some randomness, but I'd happily take "Make 3 Excellent Throws" to have an encounter with a Larvitar, or "Hatch 5 Eggs" to get an encounter with a Chansey. But any time I see a 400 or 1000 dust as an option and I get something else, I'll be disappointed.

Before deleting, you may wish to check the task list (https://pokemongo.gamepress.gg/research-tasks-list) in case the mystery encounter is valuable for you. If I get "Catch 5 Fire-types" I will keep it (despite an urban grass/water biome) because I really need that guaranteed high-IV Flareon.

I got "Evolve 5 fire types" with an encounter but I am not sure yet if it will also be a Flareon or if it's going to be different. I cannot find it in the task list link.
