Snorlax power up

So, I usually have the ability to make a good decision, especially when it comes to the power up or not question, but this has me wrapped in a knot. I just hatched a Snorlax and it has perfect IV. While I was wicked stoked with this, it has Lick and Earthquake...

I've never hatched one before, but I have caught 3 in the wild, with CPs of 522, 1177, and 2343. The only good defender or attacker for enemy gyms is the 2343 which has ZH and HB but it's only 58% IV. Seeing as I don't hatch a ton of eggs, and don't see a lot in the wild is it worth it to power this one up? I mean perfect IV is amazing, but I'm not sure if having earthquake makes it worthless. Is it worth powering up?

Is it worth powering up? Imo, it is because it has perfect ivs meaning it will reach the max cp of a snorlax. But is it worth powering up now? No. Do you really need the snorlax with that moveset? You already have a usable snorlax. So you dont really need to power up the perfect one right now. For now, your dust is better off spent to other pokemon. Keep him as a trophy for now and power him up in the future.

If you want increased actual combat effectiveness, power up the ZH/HB one. If you just want to circlejerk over near-meaningless IVs, the L/EQ one.

IVs don't make much of a difference in general, and even less so on high base stat Pokemon.

The Snorlax with ZH/HB is going to do more DPS than L/EQ even if it had 0 attack IV because it's moveset is far better.

No Snorlax is worthless. It'll still output a lot of damage before it faints, it's a Snorlax after all, just not as much as ones with better movesets.

Also inb4 someone talks about gym placement, the difference is like 70 CP at 30 and 90 at 40. In the extremely unlikely case that that CP difference means your Snorlax sits at the bottom of a level 10 gym, then that gym is already so stacked that it's going to deter nearly everyone from even attempting to take it down.

Like the only time it's important is if everyone's Pokemon in the gym is level 40, so you can't just simply power it up more to make up for the CP difference of a higher IV but equal level Snorlax.

For perspective though, that additional 70 CP costs me 19,000 stardust and 20 Snorlax candies at my level

Or can put you past someone a full level ahead of you (750,000 XP for me right now)

Edit: Just checked on my longest standind gym. The three pokemon below my Snorlax (2909) are within 88 CP. The 6 above are within 145 CP. Basically -90 CP would put me at the bottom of the gym and +90 CP would put me at 3rd from the top

This is a perfect situation, because any Snorlax is a great defender. (Plus he's a deterrent.) On defense you are only worried about high CP and this guy will be 3300 one day! That megabomb EQ is going to hurt a lot of attackers!

I would power up both, but first bring the ZH/HB up to decent CP to sit at least in the middle of the gyms around you. Then power up the Lick/Earthquake as a Snorlax is a Snorlax for appearance sake in a gym, and you can get this one up over 3K if you choose and top a gym.

I would use the precious Snorlax candies to power up good defender ones (ZenHead).

I hatched a Snorlax with the same moveset 48 hours ago...82%
Happy that I got 30 golden Snorlax candies out of the egg too, but I'm using them to power up other Fat Yetis.

Snorlax + 100% IV, I would definitely power it up if i have the same snorlax, regardless of the moveset
